Why this matters
Plastic doesn’t magically appear offshore. Much of it leaks from cities and watersheds into rivers, then the sea. Organizations like UNEP and the OECD frame this as a full life-cycle crisis: production, waste systems, and leakage.
The Philippines sits at the center of both biodiversity and plastic risk — dense coasts, typhoons, incomplete waste systems, and heavy single-use packaging. We’ve seen plastic on beaches, in canals, and where fish still try to live. Cleanup + less plastic in daily life is how we respond.

What’s at stake
Coral reefs and coastal fisheries support food security, tourism, and shoreline protection across the Philippines and the Coral Triangle. Plastic and dirty water pile stress on systems already hit by warming and overfishing.
Cleanup isn’t a substitute for better waste systems — but removing debris from beaches, mangroves, and rivers protects wildlife now while prevention scales up.

We’re early. We won’t claim fleets of cleanup ships we haven’t funded. We will run a staged program: clear money rules, vetted partners, public reporting, and eventually kits and local days you can join.

What “net” means
Revenue minus platform fees (e.g. Amazon/Stripe), product cost, refunds, and payment costs. We’ll publish a one-page definition with the first report.
When we give
Bookkeeping from day one. Target: quarterly transfers once volume is steady — faster if early totals justify it.
Where it goes
Verified cleanup orgs + local Philippine river/coast projects that share receipts and metrics — not logo walls.
Beyond donating, we want people to participate. A BambooTide Community Cleanup Kit is on our product roadmap — tools for safe beach and river pickups, designed to be reusable, low-plastic, and useful for schools, barangays, and weekend crews.

We’re evaluating a mix of global organizations with proven cleanup programs and Philippine / regional groups working rivers, Manila Bay–adjacent watersheds, and island coasts. Names below are examples of the type of work we respect — not yet an official endorsement list until first gifts are made and receipts posted.

No. It’s 10% of net — after platform fees, product cost, refunds, and payment costs. Gross “10% of sticker price” sounds bigger but often isn’t how real businesses can give sustainably. We’ll publish a one-page definition with our first report.
